NestTube ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of you and your children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the NestTube mobile application and website.

Our Commitment to Children's Privacy

NestTube is designed for use by families with children under 13. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verifiable parental consent.

When a child uses NestTube, the product analytics described below may be linked to that child's profile. We use this information only to operate and improve NestTube. We never use it for advertising, never build advertising profiles, and never sell or share it with advertisers.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a NestTube account, we collect:

• Email address
• Password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
• Parent PIN (hashed)
• Child profile names (first name only)

Usage Data

• Whitelisted channels and categories
• Watch session metadata (which videos were watched, duration)
• Channel requests from children
• Time limit settings

Product Analytics

The NestTube app records how its features are used, so we can understand what is working and find problems. Each record includes:

• The type of action, such as opening the app, playing a video, running a search, adding a channel, entering Parent Mode, or viewing the subscription screen
• Your account and family identifiers, and the child profile in use, if any
• Your account type, the platform (iOS or Android), and the app version
• Limited details about the action, such as a video or channel ID, a count (for example, how many search results were returned), or a yes/no value

Product analytics never include search terms, video or channel titles, email addresses, PINs, or any text you or your child type.

Diagnostic and Crash Data

When the app encounters an error, it sends an error report to our error-monitoring provider. The report includes technical details about the error, your device model, operating system version and app version, and your account identifier and email address, so we can investigate problems affecting your account.

Website

• If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address, how you plan to use NestTube (as a parent, on your own, or both), and which platform you use (iOS, Android, or both).
• Our website collects anonymous page-view statistics. These do not use cookies and do not identify you.

What We Do NOT Collect

• YouTube viewing history outside of NestTube
• Location data
• Device contacts
• Photos or media
• Advertising identifiers
• Third-party tracking data

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information solely to:

• Operate the NestTube service
• Display your whitelisted channels and videos
• Track watch sessions for parental monitoring
• Process channel requests
• Enforce time limits
• Understand how NestTube is used and improve it
• Diagnose and fix errors
• Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
• Contact you about NestTube if you joined our waitlist

Data Storage and Security

• All data is stored in secure, encrypted databases
• Passwords and PINs are hashed using industry-standard algorithms
• Data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
• Row-level security ensures families can only access their own data
• Product analytics cannot be read by other users of the app; only authorized NestTube administrators can access them

Third-Party Services

NestTube uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Database and authentication (data stored in the US)
• Invidious: Self-hosted YouTube proxy for video playback (no user data is shared)
• RevenueCat: Subscription management (processes payment data)
• Sentry: Error and crash monitoring for the app (data stored in the EU)
• Kit: Email list for our waitlist
• Vercel: Website hosting and anonymous website analytics

We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Data Retention

• Account data is retained while your account is active
• Watch session data is retained while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account
• Product analytics records are automatically deleted after 12 months
• When you delete your account, your product analytics records are no longer linked to any account data, and they are deleted within 12 months under the schedule above
• You can request deletion of all your data at any time

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data
• Opt out of non-essential communications

Parental Controls

Parents have full control over:

• Which channels children can access
• Time limits for each content category
• Whether children can submit channel requests
• All child profile data

Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of any material changes to this Privacy Policy via email and in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
